Application
Mechanical foam fire extinguishers (ОВП/ MFFE) are intended for extinguishing fires caused by the agents as follows:
- Solid substances (A),
- Flammable liquids (В),
Mechanical foam fire extinguishers are charged with a water-based fire extinguishing agent. General and special-purpose foaming additives are applied as charge surfactants. A special air-ejection nozzle produces the following mechanical foam ratios:
- Low ratio (5 to 20 inclusive) — MFFE (l),
- Medium ratio (20 to 200 inclusive) — MFFE (m).
These kinds of fire extinguishers are not irreplaceable when extinguishing flammable liquid flame and smolder.
Mechanical foam fire extinguishers are not intended for extinguishing fires caused by the agents as follows:
- Live electrical equipment,
- Highly heated or melted agents,
- Substance-to-water chemical reactions followed by intensive heat release
- Flammable gas (C),
Applicability of mechanical foam fire extinguishers was previously limited by failures to operate at low ambient temperatures. But in addition to the mechanical foam fire extinguishers designed for operation within the range of +5°С to +50°С, Yarpozhinvest LLC currently offers new cold-resistant products that are able to tolerate low temperatures.
Product Range: Portable and Mobile Mechanical Foam Fire Extinguishers
Our company, Yarpozhinvest LLC’s authorized representative, offers a full line of original mechanical foam fire extinguishers:
- Portable 4 to 8 L fire extinguishers (GOST R 51057-2001): MFFE-4, MFFE-8,
- Mobile 40 to 80 L fire extinguishers (GOST Р 51017-2009): MFFE-40 (MFFE-50), MFFE-80 (MFFE-100).
It should be noted that MFFE-50 was superseded by MFFE-40 and MFFE-100 – by MFFE-80.
Mechanical foam fire extinguishers are made of new domestic cylinder units only. Cylinder internal surfaces are coated with a special rust-safe film. The lock-release device is also made of corrosion-proof materials.
Fire extinguishers are equipped with hoses and foam generators for supplying foam to a site of fire:
- Portable 4 and 8 L fire extinguisher — hose and foam generator (0.45 m и 0.60 m),
- Mobile 40 and 80 L fire extinguishers — hose and foam generator (3.5 m).
Quality and Certificates
All Mechanical Foam fire extinguishers subject to delivery meet GOST and Technical Regulation fire safety requirements (123-FA dated 22.07.2008); they have passed throughout all design, manufacturing and certification stages in accordance with the applicable procedure and they are available in the market.
A registration certificate is provided for every fire extinguisher product.
Service Life and Recharging Period
Fire extinguishers have a 5 year service life (including recharging). Cylinder pressure is controlled with a built-in indicator. Fire extinguishers should be recharged once a year regardless of indication.
A fire extinguisher may be charged, recharged, inspected, and maintained at special and licensed service stations only. Fire extinguishers are to be discarded after expiration of its service life.
Important Information
- A mechanical foam fire extinguisher locking device is fitted with a cylinder pressure control indicator. If a pointer is inside a green zone, it indicates rated pressure. With temperature increased, the pointer goes to a yellow zone though this is not a critical state. A locking device is secured with a lead seal. The lead seal contains the details of its ID and date in the month-year format (FPR, Section 477 as amended on 17.02.2014).
- Date of production (handwriting is allowed) is specified at the label bottom.
When using mechanical foam fire extinguishers the following preventive measures should be observed:
- Fire extinguisher housing is pressurized,
- Handle and keep fire extinguishers in vertical position only.
